The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Soft Contrast 3 Glass Filter reduces contrast in a manner opposite to the Low Contrast filter series. This filter absorbs light by decreasing bright areas whilst maintaining the dark appearance of shadow areas. In other words, hot spots or bright areas of the image are reduced whilst shadow areas remain dark.


Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1 to 5, with No. 5 having the most significant effect


- Results in a reduction of contrast
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, causes a slight softening or halo effect
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance, which reduces exposure
- Although this may seem necessary, Tiffen does not recommend any exposure compensation as this would cancel out the filter's effect
