The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Soft Contrast 4 Glass Filter reduces contrast in the opposite manner to the Low Contrast series of filters. This filter absorbs light by reducing bright areas whilst maintaining the darker appearance of shadow areas. In other words, hot spots or bright areas of the image are reduced whilst shadow areas remain dark.


Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1 to 5, with No. 5 having the most significant effect


- Results in a reduction of contrast
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, will cause a slight amount of flare or halation
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance, which reduces exposure
- Although this may seem necessary, Tiffen does not recommend any exposure compensation as this would negate the effect of the filter
