The Tiffen Softnet Black 4 6.6 x 6.6" filter is a softening filter designed to reproduce the effect of a silk veil placed in front of the lens to soften or diffuse the light. This filter works by diffusing light entering the lens through a mesh pattern, creating a soft, even glow. The "black" designation helps maintain the overall contrast of the scene by reducing the overall diffusion of light into the shadows. Density 4 provides more softening than density 3.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6 mm.
