The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" IR T1 filter is a near-infrared to infrared control filter designed for digital cinematography. Many digital cinema cameras are designed to maximise their ability to capture red hues, and in this process, near-infrared or infrared contamination can occur. If the proportion of near-infrared or infrared light reaching the sensor of a digital cinematography camera becomes too great, the results can show unwanted colour shifts, particularly in dark areas of the image such as shadows where the appearance of black is dominant. When the Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" IR T1 filter is used, near-infrared light waves starting at 680 nm are blocked by approximately 55%. Infrared light waves at higher frequencies are further hindered until an almost flat attenuation is achieved between 725 and 800 nm. This process helps to ensure that light falling on the camera sensor is limited to the visible spectrum. Potential near-infrared or infrared colour shifts are avoided or minimised, preserving colour accuracy throughout the image. Whilst a Tiffen IR T1/2 filter that blocks infrared light waves up to 775 nanometres is sufficient for many cameras, others may have sensors requiring a higher degree of near-infrared and infrared control, such as that provided by a Tiffen IR T1 filter. This filter is constructed from Water White glass for enhanced clarity as well as colour fidelity. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polished flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. - Designed for use with CCD or CMOS sensors to filter near-infrared and infrared light pollution that causes colour shifts frequently associated with high-definition recording - Blocks near-infrared light waves starting at 680 nm by approximately 55% until an almost flat infrared attenuation is achieved between 725 and 800 nm - Constructed from Water White glass for enhanced optical clarity - No dichroic coating to further ensure colour accuracy - 1.5x filter factor reduces exposure by 0.6 stop - Padded pouch included for storage and transport Specifications
