The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Black Satin 3 filter can be used to intentionally reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles. This can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject whilst softening highlights, reducing contrast and giving textures a smoother appearance. Additionally, a halation effect around highlights is created, which can further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce a desired effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. This filter has a grade of 3. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. This filter is constructed from water-white glass for increased clarity as well as colour fidelity.
