The Tiffen 95mm Coarse Thread Black Pro-Mist 1 filter helps reduce highlight values while slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for softening and reducing facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike traditional diffusion filters or soft focus filters, Pro-Mist filters result in minimal loss of image detail. Density 1 offers more contrast reduction and highlight reduction than 1/2, but less than 2, while providing a soft, pastel light quality.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
