The Tiffen 95 mm (coarse thread) solid infrared (IR) neutral density 0.6 filter has several uses and offers the possibility of achieving results that would otherwise be impossible. This filter provides a clearer and purer neutral density than that provided by standard ND filters. The advantage is that it works better with today's high-definition cameras and lenses. Thanks to this improved clarity, stronger grade ND filters can be used whilst allowing the photographer to adjust exposure without affecting colour balance.nnND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching either a digital camera's sensor or a traditional camera's film plane. Neutral density filters are used to create unusual special effects such as capturing the "blur" of rippling water from a waterfall or the swirling effect of city traffic. As they allow the use of slower shutter speeds in bright light, it becomes possible to create these special effects that would not normally be possible to capture without the filter. And as they can also help control your depth of field, they allow you to photograph with wider apertures. Ultimately, their value lies in their ability to avoid overly bright and washed-out images taken in bright light.nnA 0.6 neutral density filter (2 stops) is often considered a medium ND filter to use that normally compensates for preventing a bright and washed-out image when shooting with a high ISO in bright light. However, the degree of ND to use in a given location depends purely on the situation. By slowing down your shutter speed even more, you'll begin to see more movement in the image, such as water blur. The difference between the foreground and background becomes more noticeable.nnWater white glass, incorporating ColorCore technology, is characterised by high transmission quality. Typically, it transmits 98-99% of light. It also features an anti-reflective quality that makes it useful in a wide range of uses, including the film industry, shop windows and art exhibitions. The glass is virtually flawless and is becoming increasingly prevalent in digital equipment.nnnReduces infrared leakage above 700 nmnnnThis is particularly important as it now allows the use of heavier grades of neutral density filters required for high-definition cameras whilst maintaining complete colour balancennnNeutral density filters have four main usesnnn- Allow the use of slow shutter speeds, particularly with high ISOs, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds or carsn- Decrease depth of field by allowing the use of wider apertures, which helps separate subjects from their backgroundn- Decrease the effective ISO of high-speed films (above 400 ISO) and allow their use outdoors in bright situationsn- Allow cinema and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes that could cause overexposurennnSuperior qualitynnn- The major Hollywood film studios rely on Tiffen filters for their multi-million dollar productions. The superior quality and design make Tiffen the overwhelming choice of filmmakers, professional photographers and even NASAn- Tiffen has also received an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its engineering excellencen- Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly manufactures its filters in the United StatesnnnnSpecificationsn
