The Soft Contrast 1 Glass Filter for the Filter Wheel 3 from Tiffen is the opposite of a Low Contrast filter. It maintains the depth of shadow areas whilst reducing highlights. In other words, highlight areas or bright areas of the image are reduced whilst shadow areas remain dark.


Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1 to 5, with No. 5 having the most pronounced effect


- Results in a reduction in contrast
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, will cause slight diffusion or halo
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance, which reduces exposure
- Whilst this may seem necessary, Tiffen does not recommend exposure compensation as this would cancel out the filter's effect
