The Tiffen Series 9 Black Pro-Mist 1/4 filter helps reduce highlight values whilst slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters result in minimal loss of image detail. The 1/4 density provides a very slight reduction in contrast and highlights and produces a soft, pastel light quality.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings. This filter is compatible with Series 9 filter holders.
