The Tiffen Series 9 Fog 1/2 filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. There may also be a softening effect due to how light interacts with the subject. The 1/2 density produces a slight fog effect and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings. This filter is compatible with Series 9 filter holders.
