The Tiffen Series 9 Neutral Density (ND) Infrared (IR) combination filter helps control colour shift due to IR contamination in digital videography, whether you use a neutral density filter with an HDSLR camera or an HD video camera. The CCD or CMOS sensor of a digital camera is inherently sensitive to infrared contamination, even when the manufacturer attempts to reduce this problem by adding an infrared-absorbing filter above the image sensor. Blacks become magenta and greens become dull brown. Infrared light focuses at a different focal distance than visible light; therefore, your images may also appear slightly blurred. The more light you cut, the more IR contamination there is; so whether you reduce overall light or want to create a shallow depth of field for a cinematic look, the more IR contamination you will encounter.nnTiffen has solved this problem by offering its exclusive range of Water White Full Spectrum IR neutral density filters in limited screw-in sizes for HDSLR. Tiffen's IR ND filters have no sharp cut-off at infrared wavelengths; therefore, the wide colour gamut that these sensors record is not compromised. The result is vibrant colours without IR contamination, with sharp, clean images that only water white glass can provide. These filters also offer greater latitude when editing in post-production and are ideal for 8-bit compressed colour.nnWater white glass, using Tiffen's ColorCore technology, is characterised by high transmission quality. It also exhibits anti-reflective and anti-glare qualities that make it useful in a wide range of applications, including the film industry, shop windows and art exhibitions. The glass is virtually flawless and is becoming increasingly prevalent in digital equipment.nnSuperior QualitynHigh-quality filter to prevent colour shift caused by the sensitivity of current digital sensorsnMajor Hollywood film studios rely on Tiffen filters for their multi-million pound productions. Superior quality and design make Tiffen the overwhelming choice of filmmakers, professional photographers and even NASAnTiffen has also received an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for engineering excellencenTiffen, the filter industry leader, proudly manufactures its filters in the United StatesnnColorCore TechnologynnTiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two sheets of optical glass. In this way, Tiffen can better control the different densities of their filters and thus create more precise degrees of filtration. This process allows for greater colour accuracy compared to simply tinted glass which can be subject to deviations during the tinting processnnNeutral density filters have four main usesnnAllow the use of slow shutter speeds, particularly with high ISOs, to record the movement of subjects such as waterfalls, clouds or carsnDecrease depth of field by allowing the use of wider apertures, which helps separate subjects from their backgroundnDecrease the effective ISO of high-sensitivity films (above 400 ISO) and allow their use outdoors in bright situationsnAllow film and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes that could cause overexposurennSpecificationsn
