The Tiffen 4 x 5,650" Soft/FX filter can be applied intentionally to reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft-focus effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. A series of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter softens fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result for a subject.

Grades 1/8, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available, with the effect of this filter type becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. When higher numbers are applied, a halo effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance the appearance of the subject or produce the desired effect.

This filter is made from optical glass for clarity and colour fidelity. It is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4 x 4 inch rectangular filters with a thickness of 13 mm. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that bonds two pieces of optical glass with flat grinding to a tolerance of 5.65/1 inch.
