The Tiffen 4 x 5.650" Soft/FX filter can be deliberately applied to reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply an overall artistic softening effect while maintaining general sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter softens fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result for a subject.

Grades 1/8, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. When higher numbers are applied, a halo effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance the appearance of the subject or produce the desired effect.

This filter is made from optical glass for optimal clarity and colour fidelity. It is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4 x 4" rectangular filters with a thickness of 13 mm. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that laminates two pieces of optical glass and grinds them flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
