The Tiffen 4 x 5.650" Soft/FX filter can be deliberately applied to reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft blur effect while maintaining overall sharpness. A set of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter softens fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result for a subject.

Grades 1/8, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. When higher numbers are applied, a halo effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance the appearance of the subject or produce the desired effect.

This filter is made from optical glass to ensure clarity and colour fidelity. It is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate rectangular filters of 4 x 4" with a thickness of 13mm. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves two pieces of optical glass and flat grinding with a tolerance of 5.65/1000th of an inch.
