Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Circular Polarising Filter for Tiffen Multi Rota Tray
 
This Tiffen 4 x 5.65" circular polarising filter is designed for use in Tiffen's Multi Rota tray. When configured with a separately sold Tiffen 138mm circular polarising filter for the Tiffen Multi Rota tray, a solid variable neutral density filter effect can be achieved. To control the degree of density, the tray allows rotation of the 138mm circular polariser, providing an exposure reduction of 2 to 6 stops.
Alternatively, this filter can be used on its own as a circular polariser in Tiffen's Multi Rota tray. It can then help reduce reflections and glare by filtering polarised light due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. Sunlight naturally becomes partially polarised by reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing light to scatter as haze. A polarising filter organises and filters this directionally polarised light perpendicular to reflected light, allowing absorption of much of this light. This results in a notable reduction of reflections and reflections on non-metallic surfaces and an increase in saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polariser differs from a linear polariser only by the addition of a quarter-wave plate in addition to the linear polarising filter. The addition of this quarter-wave plate serves to circularly polarise the linearly polarised light to enable the use of autofocus and automatic exposure functions. Due to how light is broken down and filtered with a linear polariser, autofocus and exposure accuracy becomes distorted during use. When light becomes circularly polarised, it enables the use of these functions.
This filter is uncoated and is manufactured from Water White glass for optimal clarity and colour fidelity.
