The Tiffen Black Satin 1/2 6.6 x 6.6" filter can be used to intentionally reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles whilst producing a desirable warming effect with grain across the entire image. This can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject by softening highlights, reducing contrast and giving textures a smoother appearance. Additionally, halos around highlights are created, which can further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce a desired effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. This filter has a grade of 1/2. Grades 1/8, 1/4, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. This filter is made from water white glass for increased clarity as well as colour fidelity.
