The NiSi 4 x 4" Nano IRND 0.9 is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its density of 0.9 creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and convey motion. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote near-flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to the greater sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light compared to traditional film, colour casts can appear when photographing darker subjects requiring increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectra in order to eliminate colour casts and ensure cleaner, more faithful blacks when using the NiSi 4 x 4" Nano IRND 0.9, a NiSi Optical Nano coating layer is applied to each surface of this filter.
This NiSi 4 x 4" Nano IRND 0.9 filter is made from optical glass for clarity and colour fidelity, and measures 4 mm thick.
