Tiffen 55 mm Circular Polarising Filter

Tiffen 55 mm Circular Polarising Filters - Reflected light rays become polarised. Polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can eliminate unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours, providing better contrast. The effect can be seen in the viewfinder and altered by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies depending on the filter's rotation and its orientation to the sun.
If you are outdoors on a beautiful day - in the mountains or at the beach - and want to capture a stunning photo of a sky filled with clouds or make the water more saturated, then a polariser is the solution. This filter is the best way to make clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean, or increase or decrease reflection on water. You can also use this filter when photographing through glass or windows as it will increase or decrease reflections once again.
If you are photographing in black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try using a #25 red filter. The landscape will take on the appearance of an imminent and menacing storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight filter, a polarising filter should be part of every photographer's equipment. It can transform an ordinary image into a creative and impressive photograph by increasing colour saturation.
Note: Circular polarisers are specifically designed for use with autofocus reflex cameras (they will also work without problems on manual systems)
- This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots whilst polarising the light to suppress reflections and increase colour saturation, without affecting the overall colour balance
- Can significantly enhance a blue sky and make clouds more prominent
- Optimally used at right angles to the sun
- Effective with cameras using beam splitters in the TTL metering path and with AF cameras
