Tiffen 86mm Circular Polarising Filter (Coarse Thread)

Tiffen 86mm Circular Polarising Filters (Coarse Thread) - Light rays which are reflected become polarised. Polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours by offering better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies depending on the rotation of the filter and its orientation to the sun.
If you're out walking on a beautiful day - in the mountains or at the beach - and want to capture a superb photograph of a cloud-filled sky or make the water more saturated, then a polariser is the solution. This filter is the best way to make clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection on water. You can also use this filter when shooting through glass or windows as it will again increase or decrease reflections.
If you're photographing in black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try adding a red #25 filter. The landscape will take on the appearance of an impending and threatening storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight filter, a polarising filter should be part of everyone's equipment. It can transform an ordinary image into a creative and stunning photograph by increasing colour saturation.
Note: Circular polarisers are specially designed for use with autofocus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problem)
- This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarising light to suppress reflections and increase colour saturation, without affecting the overall colour balance
- Can significantly enhance a blue sky and make clouds more prominent
- Used preferably at right angles to the sun
- Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the TTL metering path and with AF cameras
