Tiffen #25 Red Filter (40.5 mm)

The Tiffen #25 Red Filter 40.5 mm is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black-and-white photography and create separation between tones. Using this filter creates spectacular skies or simulates a moonlit scene during the day by slightly underexposing the image whilst also eliminating fog and haze. Infrared film is enhanced with extreme contrast, making skies even more spectacular and foliage white in landscape photographs. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you must increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not dyed but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted onto the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
