Tiffen #25 Red Filter (52mm)
 
The Tiffen 52mm #25 Red filter is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography and create separation between tones. Using this filter creates dramatic skies or simulates a moonlit scene in broad daylight by slightly underexposing the image whilst eliminating haze and fog. Infrared films are enhanced with extreme contrast, making skies even more dramatic and foliage white in landscape photographs. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you need to increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two optical glass elements, which are then polished. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
