Tiffen Red #25 Filter (Bay 60)
The Tiffen Bay 60 Red #25 Filter is designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography and create separation between tones. Using this filter creates spectacular skies or simulates a moonlit scene during the day by slightly underexposing the image and also eliminating haze and veiling. Infrared film is enhanced with extreme contrast, rendering skies even more dramatic and foliage white in landscape photographs. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you need to increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then the glass is polished. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
