Tiffen #11 Green (1) Filter (77mm)
The Tiffen 77mm #11 Green (1) Filter is a filter designed to increase contrast in black and white photography. When using this filter for outdoor portraits, it will lighten skin tones and offer better separation between the subject and background. For landscape photography, it will help to darken the sky and lighten foliage whilst showing more detail. The filter has a filter factor of 4, so to compensate, you need to increase exposure by two stops.
Tiffen filters are not dyed, but manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then grinds and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted in the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
