Tiffen #25 Red Filter (77 mm)
The Tiffen #25 Red Filter 77 mm is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography and create separation between tones. Using this filter creates spectacular skies or simulates a moonlight scene in broad daylight by slightly underexposing the image and also eliminating fog and haze. Infrared films are enhanced with extreme contrast, rendering skies even more spectacular and foliage white in landscape photographs. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you need to increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not dyed, but manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then the glass is polished. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
