Tiffen Blue #47 Filter (49 mm)
The Tiffen Blue #47 49 mm filter is designed to create contrast in black and white photography and create tonal separation. For landscape photography, the filter will accentuate haze and fog, creating a more dramatic look. Skin tones are brightened for more detail and contrast control. Normally, the filter is intended for B&W photography, but can also be used in colour photography to create special effects. The filter has a filter factor of 4.5, so you need to increase your exposure by 2 1/3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not dyed, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process involves laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then the glass is ground and polished. The glass is finally mounted on the metal ring, which can be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
