Tiffen 43mm Yellow 2 #8 glass filter for black and white film
 
The Tiffen 43mm Yellow 8 filter is commonly used to significantly increase contrast with black and white film. When your black and white images are flat, use a contrast filter.
Contrast in black and white is generally controlled by yellow, orange and red filters, with red producing the greatest contrast. Moderate changes can be achieved with yellow which can, generally, increase contrast sufficiently to make the difference between a "muddy" image and an acceptable one.
- Particularly useful for increasing contrast between cloudy blue sky and foreground
