Tiffen #16 Orange Filter (55 mm) 

The Tiffen 55 mm #16 Orange Filter is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography. The contrast effect will be greater than the #15 yellow when shooting B&W landscapes, seascapes or aerial photographs. It thus makes skies more dramatic and darker. The filter has a filter factor of 3, so you need to increase your exposure by 1 2/3 stop to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then the glass is polished and ground. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
