Tiffen 62mm 23A Red Filter 

Increasing contrast when working in black and white, this Tiffen 62mm 23A Red Filter is used to noticeably darken cool and blue tones to accentuate shadows and clouds. Offering better tonal separation than standard yellow and orange contrast filters, the 23A light red is particularly suited for producing dramatic outdoor images and landscapes. This filter has a filter factor of approximately 4x, requiring a 2-stop increase for normal exposure.
The filter is constructed using Tiffen's ColorCore technology, which laminates the filter material between two optical glass plates, polished flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounted in an aluminium alloy ring.
- The light red filter produces the same effect as a Wratten 23A contrast filter, and helps to darken blue tones whilst lightening warm orange and red tones when shooting in black and white.
- Commonly used in landscape photography to enhance and darken blue skies and give more visual depth to clouds.
- The filter factor of 4 requires approximately 2 stops of additional exposure to maintain normal results.
- ColorCore technology, which permanently laminates the filter material between two optical glass plates, maintains image clarity, precision and consistency.
- The aluminium filter ring is both lightweight and durable.
