Tiffen Yellow Filter #12 (62 mm)
The Tiffen 62 mm Yellow Filter #12 is a filter designed to increase contrast and tonal separation in black and white photography. The filter absorbs blue colours, rendering blues darker. Haze is minimised for aerial photography and excess blue is eliminated for astrophotography. The Yellow Filter #12 is recommended as a basic filter for use with Kodak Aero Ektachrome infrared film. The filter has a filter factor of 2, so you need to increase your exposure by 1 full stop to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then grinds and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
