The Tiffen 72mm Warm UV Filter is a general-purpose clear filter that helps absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is particularly useful for photographing at high altitude or near bodies of water. No additional contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
This filter also produces the effects of an 812 filter to add more warmth to images in order to create more pleasing skin tones. It neutralises the bluish casts of electronic flash, overly shaded conditions and other dominant cold colourations.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protection filter to leave permanently on lenses. Filters help reduce dust and moisture that could reach your lens and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratches might occur.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
