The Tiffen Warm UV Filter 77mm is a general-purpose clear filter that helps absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the blue cast of daylight. This filter is particularly useful for high-altitude photography or near bodies of water. No additional contrast is added, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
This filter also offers the effects of an 812 filter to add more warmth to images in order to create more pleasing skin tones. It neutralises blue casts from electronic flash, overly shaded conditions and other dominant cold colourations.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protection filter to leave permanently on lenses. Filters help reduce dust and moisture that may reach your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratches might occur.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
