The Tiffen Double Fog 3 58mm filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. Compared to the standard Fog filter, this filter places greater emphasis on reducing contrast whilst maintaining sharpness and minimising flare effects. Density 3 provides a noticeable fog effect and requires no exposure compensation.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
- Creates a fog effect with a dramatic reduction in overall contrast.
- Maintains greater sharpness and is less affected by flare than the standard Fog filter.
- Density 3 provides a noticeable fog effect.
