The Tiffen 58mm Deluxe 3 Filter Introductory Video Kit makes work easy and convenient for students or professionals in the video industry. The kit includes three basic but necessary filters for video.
The UV protector is designed to prevent moisture and dirt from reaching the front element of your lens. This filter also eliminates UV haze when shooting at high altitude and it is recommended to leave this filter on permanently.
The 0.6 neutral density filter is an important filter to have as it reduces the amount of light entering the lens by two stops. The ND filter also allows the video camera to film with wider apertures without overexposing the scene, whilst achieving a shallower depth of field in the shot.
Unlike digital cameras, film cannot white balance under fluorescent lighting, but the FL-D filter provides this solution. By not correcting the film for this type of lighting, it will capture the green cast emitted by fluorescent lighting. Using the filter will render colours faithfully and skin tones pleasantly on people.
Tiffen filters are created using the ColorCore process, which permanently laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass. The optical glass is ground and polished flat; therefore, the filter material between the glass is never affected. The finished product is finally mounted in an aluminium ring.
 
58 mm UV Protection Filter
 
The Tiffen 58 mm UV Protection Filter is a general-purpose clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when shooting at high altitude or near bodies of water. No additional colouration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protection filter to leave permanently on lenses. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in the event of drops or situations where scratches could occur.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.

Its 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing down your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey motion more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

58 mm FL-D Fluorescent Glass Filter for Daylight Film
 
A Tiffen 58 mm FL-D filter is used when you want to correct the greenish cast that appears when shooting with daylight film under general-purpose fluorescent lighting.  
NOTE: The FL filter series does not always guarantee 100% correct colour balance on its own when shooting under fluorescent lighting. These are general-purpose filters intended for moderate correction and will not necessarily provide perfect colour rendering by themselves.
An FL-W filter is used to balance daylight film under warm white or white fluorescent lamps. An FL-B filter is used to correct colour balance when shooting with tungsten film under fluorescent lighting.
Fluorescent lamps burn at many different temperatures and often require more demanding filtration for accurate results. For specific filtration and professional use, it is strongly recommended to use a colour temperature thermometer along with colour correction filters (e.g. CC30M) when shooting under fluorescent lighting. This is the only proven method for achieving accurate colour correction.
