Tiffen 62 mm Black and White Three-Filter Kit
The Tiffen 62 mm Black and White Three-Filter Kit combines the essential Yellow #6, Green #13 and Red #25 contrast filters, along with a four-pocket filter pouch, to provide a convenient solution for producing different degrees of contrast when using black and white film.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings.
62 mm Light Yellow #6 Filter
A Tiffen 62 mm Light Yellow #6 filter is used for a slight increase in contrast with black and white films. Whilst less strong than a traditional #8 yellow, it can still be used to make a difference in your photography. You will find that it increases your contrast just enough to make the difference between a black and white print that looks "flat" and one that displays proper correction.
Tiffen ColorCore glass is produced by a process that involves permanently laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, ground flat to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, and then mounted in precision aluminium rings.
- Particularly useful for adding contrast between blue sky with clouds and the foreground
- Tiffen ColorCore glass is sealed between two sheets of optical glass. In this way, Tiffen can better control the different densities of their filters and thus create more precise degrees of filtration. This process allows for greater colour accuracy compared to simply tinted glass subject to variations during the tinting process
- Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly manufactures its filters in the United States and supports its products with a solid 10-year warranty

62 mm Green #13 (2) Filter
The Tiffen 62 mm Green #13 (2) filter is a basic contrast filter, primarily intended for use with black and white film. This green filter subtly darkens skies and lightens foliage. It is generally associated with use for portraits and to achieve greater separation between skin tones and outdoor backgrounds. Compared to the Yellow-Green #11 filter, the #13 helps to lighten foliage and other green-coloured subjects further.
There is a filter factor of 2x with this filter, requiring a 1-stop increase for normal exposure. Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings.

Red #25 Filter (62 mm)
The Tiffen 62 mm Red #25 filter is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography and create separation between tones. Using this filter creates dramatic skies or simulates a moonlit scene during the day by slightly underexposing the image whilst also eliminating haze and fog. Infrared film is enhanced with extreme contrast, rendering skies even more dramatic and foliage white in landscape photographs. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you need to increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass and grinds and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted onto the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
