Tiffen 72mm Digital Light Control Filter Kit
 
The Tiffen 72mm Digital Light Control Filter Kit contains three highly useful filters for better controlling exposure results and the overall appearance of images. These filters, a circular polariser, a 0.6 solid neutral density filter and a 0.6 graduated neutral density filter, are particularly suited to digital SLR cameras due to their increased sensitivity to light. Each of these filters can offer a unique advantage for working in challenging lighting conditions to produce well-exposed and balanced images.
 
 
Each of these filters measures 72 mm and they are presented in a padded nylon protective pouch for transport.
 
Circular Polariser
A circular polariser helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering light that has been polarised due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The result is a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as sharper images when shooting in hazy conditions. A circular polariser differs from a linear polariser in that it supports the full use of the camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.
 
Solid Neutral Density
A solid neutral density filter creates uniform and general darkening across the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing down your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and convey motion. Neutral density filters do not affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters. This filter has a density of 0.6, providing a 2-stop exposure reduction.
 
Graduated Neutral Density
A graduated neutral density filter allows you to specifically darken skies and other bright areas of the image whilst leaving a portion of the image unaffected by the filtration. The filter is denser at the edge and gradually fades towards the centre, with a soft line between the dense and clear areas. This filter also has a density of 0.6, providing a 2-stop exposure reduction for the area covered by the density.
 
Tiffen ColorCore Technology
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 plates of optical glass, grinding it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
