The Tiffen DV Select 3 kit contains everything you need to achieve that spectacular outdoor shot or landscape portrait.
A Tiffen 0.6 (2-stop) solid neutral density filter has several uses and offers the ability to achieve otherwise impossible results. It allows the photographer to adjust exposure without affecting colour balance. An ND filter appears grey and reduces the amount of light reaching either the sensor of a digital camera or the film plane of a traditional camera.
A neutral density filter is used to create unusual special effects such as capturing the "blur" of rippling water from a waterfall or the swirling effect of urban traffic. Since it allows the use of slower shutter speeds in bright light, it becomes possible to create these special effects that would normally not be possible to capture without the filter. And, since it can also help control your depth of field, it allows you to shoot with wider apertures. Ultimately, its value lies in helping to avoid bright and overly washed-out images taken in bright light.
Determining which neutral density filter gives ideal results for a given lighting situation requires knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Choose the filter strength that adjusts the lighting to remain within the exposure latitude (greater difference between light/dark values) that still shows detail in the digital or film media used.
 
Black ProMist
is part of the Hollywood FX filter series. The Black Pro-Mist creates moderate image softening and modest to strong highlight glow, but without as much shadow lightening effect.

Part of the difference between ordinary photography and "great" photography lies in attention to detail - and with Tiffen's Pro-Mist filter series, you can adjust your images just enough to distinguish them from everyone else's. Generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6 - the clear part of the filter lets through 4 times more light compared to the darkest part) effectively compensates for average bright sky versus foreground situations, and the soft transition is more often applicable to a scene than the hard transition.
 
Circular polariser
Tiffen polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours, providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to the rotation of the filter and its orientation relative to the sun.
Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced by a process that permanently laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounted in precision aluminium rings

Neutral density filters have four main uses
- To allow the use of slow shutter speeds, particularly with high ISOs, to record movement of subjects such as waterfalls, clouds or cars
- To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
- To decrease the effective ISO of high-speed films (above 400 ISO) and allow their use outdoors in bright situations
- sand or other bright scenes that could cause overexposure
