Tiffen 52mm Warm Soft/FX 3 Filter
 
The Tiffen 52mm Warm Soft/FX 3 Filter can be used to create a warm cast across the entire image whilst intentionally reducing the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits, or to apply an overall soft focus effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. A set of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter softens fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.
The warming effect of this filter can be achieved in daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its white balance setting selected to daylight. The overall colouration of this filter reflects a mired shift value of +45.
This filter has a grade of 3. Grades 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halo effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce a desired effect.
This filter is made from optical glass to ensure clarity and colour fidelity. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, before mounting it in precision metal rings.
