Tiffen 58mm Soft/FX 5 Filter

The Tiffen 58mm Soft/FX 5 Filter can be used to deliberately reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply an overall softening effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. A set of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter softens fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of the subject.
This filter has a grade of 5. Grades of 1/2, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each grade increase. When higher grades are applied, a halo effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce the desired effect.
This filter is constructed from optical glass for optimal clarity and colour fidelity. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
