Tiffen Ultra Contrast 3 62mm Filter

The Tiffen Ultra Contrast 3 62mm filter can be used to intentionally reduce contrast when taking photographs or recording videos. By distributing ambient lighting to darker areas of a scene, this filter is useful for evenly balancing the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Detail is increased in shadow areas whilst highlights and diffusion around highlights are intentionally limited.
This filter has a grade of 3. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that consists of laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat with a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
