The Tiffen 62mm Warm Pro-Mist 3 filter helps to reduce the value of highlights whilst significantly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for softening and reducing facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or softening filter, Pro-Mist filters result in very little loss of detail across the entire image. The density 3 offers a notable reduction in contrast and highlights, allowing for a soft, pastel light quality.
This filter also combines the diffusion effect with an 812 warming filter to bring overall warmth to the image and enhance skin tones. This warming effect also helps to reduce sensitivity to blue and decrease overly cool tones in the scene.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that laminates the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
