The Tiffen 72mm Warm Pro-Mist 1 filter helps to reduce the value of highlights whilst noticeably lowering overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters offer little loss of detail across the entire image. The density 1 provides a subtle reduction in contrast and highlights, allowing for a soft, pastel light quality.
This filter also combines the diffusion effect with an 812 warming filter to bring overall warmth to the image and enhance skin tones. This warming effect also helps to reduce blue sensitivity and tone down overly cool tones in the scene.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
