Tiffen 77mm Soft/FX 1 Filter

The Tiffen 77mm Soft/FX 1 Filter can be used to deliberately reduce the appearance of imperfections and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general softening effect whilst maintaining overall sharpness. A set of small lenses distributed across the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of the subject.
This filter has a grade of 1. Grades 1/2, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around bright areas can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce the desired effect.
This filter is manufactured from optical glass for clarity and colour fidelity. It is produced using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two optical glass plates and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
