Warm Soft FX filters
Tiffen's Soft/FX filters are diffusion filters. These filters feature a micro-lens pattern that puts small details, such as wrinkles and skin imperfections, out of focus whilst keeping larger details such as the eyes sharp. Soft/FX filters are available in most sizes, from grade half to five, with grade 5 having the most significant softening effect. This filter is particularly effective for diffused portraits.
This filter combines the effects of Tiffen's Soft/FX series and their exclusive 812 warming filter.
Pro Mist filters
The Pro-Mist and Warm Pro Mist filters, which are part of Tiffen's Hollywood/FX series, generally produce highlights that appear more like a "halo" than the highlights that extend outward from a fog filter. By keeping the highlight closer to the subject, they create an almost pearlescent glow on the highlights. Available in different degrees of diffusion strength (with grade 5 having the strongest effect), the lower grades of the filter are also used to reduce the excess sharpness and contrast of modern film and lens combinations without compromising the image. The Black Pro-Mist filter series also creates moderate image softening and moderate to strong highlights, but with less lightening effect in the shadow areas.
These two filters are also available in a "Warm" series which combines the Pro Mist effect with Tiffen's exclusive 812 warming filter.
