Tiffen 82mm Ultra Contrast 3 Filter
The Tiffen 82mm Ultra Contrast 3 Filter can be used to deliberately reduce contrast when capturing an image or recording video. By distributing ambient lighting to darker areas of a scene, this filter is useful for helping to evenly balance the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Detail is increased in shadow areas whilst highlights and halation around bright areas are deliberately controlled.
This filter has a grade of 3. Grades 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
