The Tiffen 67 mm HDTV/FX 3 filter is a light softening and diffusion filter specifically designed for use with high-definition imaging. This filter helps mitigate the hyper-sharpness commonly associated with HD photography and produce an image quality closer to film photography. By slightly reducing contrast and sharpness, skin detail appears smoother and there is an increase in shadow detail. The effects of this filter are more significant when used for video applications rather than still photography. This filter offers more softening than density 2, but less than density 4.
This filter is made from Water White glass and is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
