Tiffen 77 mm HDTV/FX 1/4 Filter
 
The Tiffen 77 mm HDTV/FX 1/4 filter is a light diffusion and softening filter specially designed for use with high-definition imaging. This filter helps to reduce the hyper-sharpness typically associated with HD photography and to produce an image quality closer to film photography. By slightly reducing contrast and sharpness, skin details appear smoother and there is an increase in shadow detail. The effects of this filter are more significant when used for video applications rather than still photography. This filter offers less softening than the 1/2 density.
This filter is manufactured from Water White glass and is produced using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
