Tiffen Hyper Star 72mm Filter

The Tiffen Hyper Star 72mm Filter is designed to be used perpendicular to a point light source such as the sun, a bulb, or a candle. On the filter surface is a combination of finely engraved line types. These lines help create a star effect with 14 main diffraction spikes that extend from the light source, which also takes on an elliptical shape. The Tiffen Hyper Star 72mm Filter arranges these diffraction spikes in a pattern where seven main diffraction spikes are grouped on each side of the elliptical light source, at the points furthest from each other.

This filter is most effective for images where the light source used to generate the star effect is a highlight area with significant contrast to the rest of the image. It is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity, and features an aluminium alloy filter ring that can be rotated to adjust the direction of the diffraction spikes and the overall orientation of the star effect.
