The Formatt 62mm Hi Def Clear Glass filter is a transparent (colourless) filter for colour and black and white films. It also serves as permanent protection for the lens.
Hi Def Filters
- Hi Def filters have no colour cast - Specially designed for high-definition shooting
- Optically consistent from one filter to another
- Formatt filters use the finest materials combined with cutting-edge production techniques; The result is a level of optical perfection unmatched elsewhere
- All Formatt filters are manufactured from Crown B270 Schott-Desag optical glass which is precisely polished and ground to ensure absolute optical flatness and optimal performance
Absorbent Cell Technology
- The secret to Formatt's consistency in filter design lies in its unique "absorbent cell" technology (A.C.T.); This unique process allows properly calibrated dyes to be applied to ultra-fine and optically pure absorbent cells, offering control that guarantees the smoothest graduated lines and uniform colour across the entire filter surface.
- This process is revolutionary compared to conventional filter dyeing techniques as it eliminates the need to coat the glass surface directly; The reproducible performance achieved through A.C.T. ensures that at any time, you can confidently swap similar filters during shooting without noticeable differences in colour or density.
- The flatness of each filter is guaranteed to a maximum value of 2 waves and is accompanied by an individual measurement performed by a laser interferometer; Each filter is carefully tested with a densitometer and spectrophotometer to ensure consistent and accurate transmission before leaving the factory - the result is absolute image purity that eliminates any unwanted colour cast caused by conventional greenish soda-lime glass.
Ultraviolet Filters
- If desired, they can be left permanently on the lens to protect it
- Skylight filters offer additional correction benefits for ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and video tape as a blue cast and can obscure distant details
- Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct the UV effect to varying degrees
