The Formatt 95mm circular polariser in Crown Schott-Desag B270 optical glass - Light rays which are reflected become polarised. Polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your lens. They can eliminate unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours for better contrast.
The effect can be observed through the viewfinder and modified by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to the rotation of the filter and its orientation relative to the sun.
Due to the sharpness of HD cameras and lenses, certain filters prove useful for enhancing your subject. This incredible technological advancement offers HD users the extra touch of clarity they are looking for.
The Formatt Crown polariser allows you to achieve a level of optical performance previously unavailable. The polarising film is manufactured between two pieces of Formatt's crystal clear white optical glass. The absolute clarity of the glass combined with the advanced polarising material makes Crown polarising filters particularly effective on demanding scenes.
Formatt, a company with three generations of experience in manufacturing professional filters, produces each filter to the highest technical standards. The finest materials, combined with cutting-edge production technology, have resulted in a level of optical excellence unmatched elsewhere.
Note! Circular polarisers are specifically designed for use with autofocus reflex cameras (they also work without any problems on manual systems and video cameras)
High Definition Filters
- HD filters do not suffer from colour shift - Specially designed for high definition shooting
- Optically consistent from one filter to another
- Formatt filters use the finest materials combined with the most modern production techniques; This results in a level of optical perfection unmatched elsewhere
- All Formatt filters are manufactured with water white Schott optical glass which is precisely polished and ground to ensure absolute optical flatness and optimum performance
Absorbent Cell Technology
- The secret to Formatt's consistency in filter design lies in its unique "Absorbent Cell Technology" (A.C.T.); This unique process allows corrected dyes to be applied to optically pure, ultra-fine absorbent cells, offering controllability that guarantees the smoothest gradient lines and uniform colour across the entire filter surface.
- This process is revolutionary compared to conventional filter dyeing techniques as it eliminates the need to coat directly onto the glass surface; The reproducible performance achieved through A.C.T. ensures that at any time, you can confidently exchange similar filters during shooting, with no perceptible differences in colour or density.
- The flatness of each filter is guaranteed to a maximum value of 2 waves and is accompanied by an individual measurement from a laser interferometer; Each filter is carefully checked with a densitometer and spectrophotometer to ensure consistent and accurate transmission before leaving the factory - the result is absolute image purity that eliminates any unwanted colour cast caused by conventional greenish soda-lime glass.
Circular Polarisers
- This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to suppress haze from outdoor shots whilst polarising light to eliminate reflections and increase colour saturation, without affecting overall colour balance
- Intensifies blue skies
- Enhances contrast
- Penetrates haze
