The Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread Soft/FX 1 filter diffuses intense light entering the lens and produces a luminous effect.

Whilst the resulting image appears softer and more ethereal, there is little loss of clarity or detail.

This filter works by diffusing the light entering the lens with small aberrations; by distributing the light more evenly, it creates a soft glow rather than a sharp and well-defined image as when shooting without a filter.

Density 1 offers more softening than the 1/2, but less than the 2.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.

The diffusion filter imparts an ethereal quality to photographs, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.
